European Stocks Drop, Paced by Hypo Real Estate, Depfa, Total, BP

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks fell, led by energy
companies and banks, after Citigroup Inc. lowered its
recommendation for the oil industry and Union Investment, a
German mutual fund manager, halted redemptions from a fund.

The Dow Jones Europe Stoxx Oil & Gas Index dropped to the
lowest in two months, led by Total SA and BP Plc. Hypo Real
Estate Holding AG, the mortgage bank spun off from HVB Group, and
Depfa Bank Plc also declined.

European Stocks Rise, Led by Aviva; Lloyds, Ryanair, GlaxoSmithKline Rally

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks rebounded from a
five-day plunge on waning concern that the U.S. subprime-credit
crisis will damp economic growth.

Aviva Plc, HSBC Holdings Plc and UBS AG paced gains by
financial stocks. Lloyds TSB Group Plc rallied on earnings that
topped analysts' estimates. Ryanair Holdings Plc and MAN AG led
airline and auto stocks higher after raising profit forecasts.
GlaxoSmithKline Plc jumped the most in two years after a panel of
doctors said its Avandia drug should remain on the U.S. market.

European Stocks Rebound; Imperial Chemicals, Linde Shares Advance

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks rebounded. Imperial
Chemical Industries Plc and Linde AG, the world's largest maker
of industrial gases, paced the advance.

The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 was little changed at 372.59 at 2:49
p.m. in London after falling as much as 0.6 percent earlier. The
Stoxx 50 decreased 0.1 percent, while the Euro Stoxx 50, a
measure for the 13 nations sharing the euro, was little changed.

US STOCKS-Wall St eyes flat open as data reassures

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 27 - U.S. stocks headed for a flat
to lower open on Friday as investors remained jittery about the
worsening climate for financing corporate takeovers, but
reassuring data on the economy offered some support.




A day after U.S. equities suffered their second worst
decline this year, futures temporarily cut losses following the
GDP report. But with European stocks volatile and Asian stocks
lower overnight, the underlying tone on Wall Street remained
nervous.

European Stocks Decline, Paced by Next, Sports Direct on U.K. Floods

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks fell, paced by U.K.
retailers Next Plc and Kingfisher Plc as floods devastated parts
of central England.

Sports Direct International Plc tumbled 19 percent after the
U.K.'s biggest sporting-goods retailer said it expects the floods to
weigh on earnings. ARM Holdings Plc and Infineon Technologies AG led
chipmakers lower after Texas Instruments Inc. of the U.S. reported a
drop in profit and revenue that missed analysts' estimates.

European Stocks Erase Gains; Hypo Real Estate, Nestle Lead Decline

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks erased an earlier
advance as shares of Hypo Real Estate Holding AG and Nestle SA
declined.

Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index fell less than 0.1
percent to 392.53 at 11:24 a.m. in London. The Stoxx 50 added
less than 0.1 percent, while the Euro Stoxx 50, a measure for the
euro region, lost 0.1 percent.

European Stocks Erase Earlier Gains; Credit Suisse, Nestle Shares Drop

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks pared earlier gains,
paced by Credit Suisse Group and Nestle SA.

Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index fell 0.1 percent to
392.18 at 8:51 a.m. in London. The Stoxx 50 slid 0.1 percent,
while the Euro Stoxx 50, a measure for the euro region, declined
0.2 percent.

European Stocks Advance; SAP, Roche, Vodafone, BHP Billtion Pace the Gains

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks rose for the first
time in three days after profit from SAP AG and Roche Holding AG
beat analysts' estimates, boosting prospects for earnings growth.

Vodafone Group Plc gained after the world's largest mobile-
phone company said it added more subscribers than analysts
anticipated. BHP Billiton Ltd. and Anglo American Plc led mining
stocks higher as copper rallied for a second day in Asia.

European Stocks Advance, Led By ABN Amro, Banks; Saipem, Technip Decline

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks rose, led by ABN Amro
Holding NV after Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc sweetened its
71.1 billion-euro ($98.1 billion) offer for the Dutch lender.

ABN Amro jumped the most in three months. BT Group Plc, the
U.K.'s largest phone company, and drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline Plc
climbed after brokerages lifted their recommendations on the
shares.

European stocks drop to one-week closing low

(Reuters) - European stocks tumbled from fresh 6-1/2 year highs to their lowest close in a week on Tuesday as profit warnings from U.S. heavyweights including retailer Sears Holdings spooked investors.

The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 index closed unofficially down 1.1 percent at 1,608.3 points, its lowest close since July 2. It earlier reached 1,630.96, its highest level since November 2000.

European Stocks Rise, Led by BHP Billiton, Anglo American; Univar Surges

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks climbed for a second
day, led by mining and telecommunications companies, after a
strike in Chile sent copper prices higher and Telekom Austria AG
raised its profit forecast.

BHP Billiton Ltd. and Anglo American Plc rose. Univar NV,
the largest distributor of chemicals in the U.S., surged to a
record after CVC Capital Partners offered to buy the company.
Royal Numico NV jumped on speculation Europe's biggest baby-food
maker may receive a takeover bid.

European Stocks Advance in Quarter; DaimlerChrysler, LVMH, Swatch Rise

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks rose, posting a
fourth consecutive quarterly advance, after reports in the U.S.
signaled the world's biggest economy will keep growing without
stoking inflation.

DaimlerChrysler AG and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA
led gains today by companies most dependent on the U.S. for
sales. Swatch Group AG rallied after Deutsche Bank AG recommended
buying shares in the watchmaker because revenue and profit
margins may increase. Total SA and Royal Dutch Shell Plc rose as
oil climbed to a 10-month high.

European Stocks Erase Earlier Gains; AstraZeneca, Fortis Shares Decline

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks erased earlier gains
as shares of AstraZeneca Plc and Fortis declined.

The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index was little changed, slipping
less than 0.1 percent to 391.38 as of 9 a.m. in London. The index
earlier rose as much as 04 percent. The Stoxx 50 and the Euro
Stoxx 50, a measure for the euro region, were also little changed.

European Stocks May Rise; BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Cadbury May Advance

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks may gain, led by BHP
Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group, after copper prices rose.

Cadbury Schweppes Plc will probably rally on a report that
India's Tata Group may be prepared to invest more than $2 billion
in a bid with Blackstone Group LP and Lion Capital LLP for a
stake in Cadbury's U.S. drinks unit.

European Stocks Rebound; BP, BHP Billiton, Nestle and Danone Pace Advance

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks advanced for the
first time in six days, paced by energy and mining shares as oil
and metals prices rose.

BP Plc, Europe's second-biggest oil producer, and BHP
Billiton Ltd., the world's largest mining company, gained. Nestle
SA increased after Deutsche Bank AG recommended buying stock in
the food company. Groupe Danone rose on a report the yogurt maker
will likely sell its LU cookies division.

European Stocks May Decline; Shares of Barclays, Credit Suisse Might Fall

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks may retreat after
U.S. and Asian equities fell. Barclays Plc and Credit Suisse
Group may drop after their U.S.-traded securities declined.

France Telecom SA may be active as the French government
sells as much as 3.8 billion euros ($5.1 billion) of the nation's
largest phone company. Shares of Cumerio NV, owner of the biggest
copper smelter in southeastern Europe, may be active after
Germany's Norddeutsche Affinerie AG agreed to buy the company.

European Stocks Decline on Ifo Report; BHP Billiton, Julius Baer Slide

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks dropped for a second
day after German business confidence fell more than economists
forecast in June, adding to signs that growth in Europe's largest
economy may slow.

BHP Billiton Ltd. led mining shares lower on concern China
will raise interest rates to cool the economy. Julius Baer
Holding AG declined the most in a year after UBS AG sold part of
its stake in the Swiss Bank, thwarting takeover speculation.
Deutsche Bank AG and Barclays Plc led a decline by banks on
concern that losses in the U.S. mortgage market may grow.

Gold Falls in London Trading as Weaker Equities Spur Selling; Silver Drops

(Bloomberg) -- Gold fell for a second day in London,
heading for the biggest weekly decline in four weeks, after
equities dropped worldwide and on speculation that U.S. interest
rates may rise.

European stocks fell for a fifth day, the longest rout in
three months. That may be spurring some speculators to sell gold
to fund their losses. Some investors expect higher U.S. interest
rates to strengthen the dollar and weaken the price of gold in
U.S. dollar terms.

European Stocks Drop After ECB Raises Key Rate; E.ON and Iberdrola Fall

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks headed for the biggest
decline in more than two months after the European Central Bank
raised interest rates.

E.ON AG and Iberdrola SA led a decline by utilities, while
BNP Paribas SA and Spain's Banco Popular Espanol SA pushed
banking shares lower. Thales SA, Europe's largest defense-
electronics company, fell after Societe Generale SA downgraded
the stock.

European Stocks Erase Gains; Ryanair, Intermediate Capital Group Decline

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks erased gains as
Ryanair Holdings Plc, the region's biggest low-fare airline, and
Intermediate Capital Group Plc declined.

The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index was little changed, slipping
less than 0.1 percent to 398.94 as of 12:09 p.m. in London after
advancing as much as 0.3 percent. The Stoxx 50 and the Euro Stoxx
50, a measure for the 13 nations sharing the euro, were also
little changed.
