European Stocks Advance; SAP, Roche, Vodafone, BHP Billtion Pace the Gains

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks rose for the first
time in three days after profit from SAP AG and Roche Holding AG
beat analysts' estimates, boosting prospects for earnings growth.

Vodafone Group Plc gained after the world's largest mobile-
phone company said it added more subscribers than analysts
anticipated. BHP Billiton Ltd. and Anglo American Plc led mining
stocks higher as copper rallied for a second day in Asia.

Roche, SAP, Ericsson Earnings, Germany's ZEW Index: European Week Ahead

(Bloomberg) -- Earnings from Roche Holding AG, the
world's biggest maker of cancer medicine, SAP AG, the largest
global maker of business-management software, and Ericsson AB,
the No. 1 maker of wireless phone networks, may move stock
markets next week.

Data on German investor confidence from the ZEW Center for
European Economic Research in Mannheim may also affect markets.

Oracle faces long, hard road to prove SAP charges

(Reuters) - A day after SAP unexpectedly admitted in a court filing that a subsidiary had improperly downloaded software from Oracle, computer security experts said Oracle would need to do much more to push its case far further.




SAP said on Tuesday its TomorrowNow subsidiary, which provides services for customers using Oracle legacy software, had in some cases carried out "inappropriate" downloads of support materials from an Oracle site using customer log-ins.

Jones Apparel agrees to sell Barneys for $825 mln

(Reuters) - Jones Apparel said it expected to report a net gain from the deal of about $290 million. It may use the proceeds to return cash to shareholders, repay some short-term debt or other uses.

German DAX Benchmark Climbs; Allianz, MAN, SAP Shares Pace the Advance

(Bloomberg) -- Germany's benchmark DAX Index rose,
led by Allianz SE, Europe's largest insurer.

MAN AG, Europe's third-largest truckmaker, climbed after
Chief Executive Officer Hakan Samuelsson said the second quarter
is ``going very well.'' SAP AG, the world's largest maker of
business-management software, rose for a third day.
