SEC Chairman Cox to Recommend New Federal Rules for Municipal Disclosure

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission Chairman Christopher Cox will recommend that Congress
consider imposing new federal rules to govern disclosures from
municipal borrowers, a spokesman for the agency said.

Cox, in a speech he is to deliver today, will also call for
independent funding for the Governmental Accounting Standards
Board, the group that sets accounting standards for states and
municipalities, according to SEC spokesman John Nester.
