Boeing chief sees longer aero boom, 787 on track

(Reuters) - The Chicago-based company's highly anticipated 787 Dreamliner -- which has already generated more than $100 billion of orders -- is on track for delivery next May, he added, but the date of its first test would likely be at the back end of the range it was previously aiming for.




"You could see an extended cycle here. I don't see an end to it right now," said Boeing Chief Executive Jim McNerney on a conference call with analysts on Wednesday after reporting higher-than-expected second-quarter earnings.

Boeing reports profit, raises outlook; shares up

(Reuters) - Its shares jumped as much as 6 percent to an all-time high
of $110 in electronic trading before the bell, later paring
those gains to $106.63.




Boeing, which vies with Airbus for the title of
world's biggest plane maker and is the Pentagon's No. 2
supplier, reported quarterly profit of $1.1 billion, or $1.35
per share, compared with a loss of $160 million, or 21 cents
per share, in the year-ago quarter.

US STOCKS-Futures extend gains on Boeing profit

(Reuters) - Boeing's announcement was an additional boost to optimism
spawned earlier by Web retailer Amazon.com Inc.'s
solid profit and outlook.




S&P 500 futures were up 6.2 points, above fair
value, a mathematical formula that evaluates pricing by taking
into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration
on the contract.

Embraer May Make Bigger Jets to Rival Airbus, Boeing, Chief Executive Says

(Bloomberg) -- Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica SA
may make bigger jets to challenge Airbus SAS and Boeing Co. in the
next decade if new engine technology is developed, Chief Executive
Officer Frederico Curado said.

``If there is a huge change in the structure of the dynamics
of this market, we will certainly look into that,'' Curado said in
an interview in Paris.

US STOCKS-Indexes rise; Boeing, Google aid advance

(Reuters) - The view that second-quarter earnings will beat
expectations has been gaining supporters, analysts said, but
worries persist about inflation and bond yields above 5
percent.




Boeing was among companies that led the Dow industrials'
advance, with a 1 percent gain to $99.91 on the New York Stock
Exchange, a day after the jet presentation.

China Southern says to buy 45 Airbus, Boeing jets

(Reuters) - The Boeing planes, to be purchased by its 60 percent-owned
unit, Xiamen Airlines, would be delivered between July 2011 and
November 2013, the statement said, adding that list prices of
the Boeing jets were at $70.50 million-79.00 million each.




But purchase prices would be below the list prices in both
cases, the airline said. Financing for the purchases would be
met with internal resources and bank loans, it said.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Gain on Earnings Optimism; Alcoa, Boeing Advance

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures rose on
speculation Alcoa Inc. will kick off the second-quarter earnings
season with results that beat analysts' estimates.

Boeing Co., the world's second-largest commercial airplane
maker, advanced on reports it received orders for its 787
Dreamliner. Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Inc. soared after Roche
Holding AG, the biggest maker of cancer medicines, agreed to buy
the rights to its therapeutic technology for up to $1 billion.

Qantas increases order for 787 by 20 planes

(Reuters) - The 787, a mid-sized aircraft made predominately of
carbon-composite materials, is Boeing's first all-new
commercial airliner in more than a decade.

UPDATE 1-Boeing to end parts production in Tennessee facility

(Reuters) - The Oak Ridge plant, employing 265 people, produces flight
deck consoles and metal machined parts for Boeing's jetliners
and also makes uranium centrifuges for other customers.




The plane maker said the decision was made because the
plant no longer has sufficient commercial airplane or other
parts production work to remain in operation.

JP Morgan says Boeing 787 up to 4 months late

(Reuters) - The head of Boeing's commercial airplane unit, Scott
Carson, said earlier on Monday that the plane was still on
schedule for roll out in July and test flight in August or
September. He said it would be delivered on time to the first
customer in May 2008.

Emirates orders 8 more A380 from Airbus

(Reuters) - Emirates said it had not yet made a decision on its requirement for 100 aircraft in the middle of the market, which pits the Airbus A350 XWB against the faster-selling Boeing 787.




"For the 350 we have to make a decision in the next few months," Emirates Group Chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum told a news conference.

US STOCKS-Wall St rises on slipping yields, profit hopes

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 13 - U.S. stocks rose on Wednesday
as a pullback in benchmark bond yields fueled a rebound in
interest-rate-sensitive shares including banks, utilities and
home builders.




Data pointing to strength in U.S. consumer spending also
boosted optimism about the economy's health and corporate
profits, sending shares of consumer-oriented issues, including
Altria Group , and those of big manufacturers including
plane maker Boeing Co. , higher.

Kenya Airways 2006/07 profit falls 15 pct

(Reuters) - Net profits at Kenya Airways fell 14.6 percent to 4.1 billion shillings last year because of high fuel prices and a strong local currency, the company said on Wednesday.

The airline, which lost a Boeing 737-800 in Cameroon in early May, when it crashed into a swamp and killed 114 people on board, said revenues rose 11.3 percent to 58.8 billion shillings in the year ended March 31 from 52.8 billion in the previous year.
