Gold Little Changed in Asia After Reaching Two-Month High; Silver Advances

(Bloomberg) -- Gold was little changed in Asia after
reaching the highest in more than two months, supported by the
euro's gain to a record against the dollar and crude oil's
advance last week to near a one-year high. Silver rose.

Gold generally moves in the opposite direction to the U.S.
currency, which slid to a record low of $1.3845 per euro today
amid concern about U.S. loans to homeowners with poor credit.
Crude oil was little changed at $75.53 a barrel at 11:04 a.m.
Singapore time, after climbing to $76.13 a barrel on July 20, the
highest since Aug. 10.

Gold up as euro hits record high, awaits Bernanke

(Reuters) - Gold gained on Wednesday as the dollar tumbled to a record low against the euro, but dealers are cautious ahead of a testimony by U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

Silver and platinum also rose. Tokyo gold futures rebounded to track a firm cash market, while the newly launched "mini" gold contracts saw a decline in turnover.

Gold Rises in London, Resuming Rally on Dollar's Decline; Silver Advances

(Bloomberg) -- Gold rose, resuming this month's
rally, as the dollar fell to a record low against the euro,
increasing demand for the metal as an alternative investment.
Silver also gained.

Bullion yesterday snapped a three-day advance on speculation
the dollar would halt its slide against the euro. Gold has
climbed 2.1 percent since the beginning of last week as the
dollar dropped 1.8 percent against the euro.

Gold in Asia Advances on Increased Jewelry Demand; Silver Little Changed

(Bloomberg) -- Gold rose in Asia for the fourth day
in five as demand increased from jewelers, the biggest users of
the precious metal. Silver was little changed.

Good demand for the metal from India and Turkey emerged
earlier this week, Goldman Sachs JBWere analysts, led by Malcolm
Southwood, said in a report on July 10. Jewelers accounted for 69
percent of first-quarter gold consumption, from 61 percent a year
earlier, the producer-funded World Gold Council said May 16.

Gold May Rise in New York on U.S. Interest-Rate Speculation; Silver Gains

(Bloomberg) -- Gold, little changed in New York, may
rise on speculation U.S. interest rates will remain unchanged
this year, weakening the dollar and boosting the appeal of the
precious metal as an alternative investment. Silver gained.

Gold generally moves in the opposite direction of the U.S.
dollar, which today traded less than 1 cent away from its record
low against the euro. Gold is up 3.8 percent this year while the
euro has climbed 3.5 percent against the dollar.

Gold Climbs for 3rd Day as Dollar Declines Against the Euro; Silver Rises

(Bloomberg) -- Gold gained for a third consecutive
trading session in London on speculation the dollar's decline
against the euro will increase demand for the precious metal as
an alternative investment. Silver gained.

Bullion, priced in dollars, has risen 3.9 percent this year
while the dollar fell 3.3 percent against the euro. Investors
should buy gold as large speculators may start to build their
holdings, sending prices higher in the next month, UBS AG
London-based analyst John Reade said in an e-mailed report.

Gold Gains in Asia on Speculation Dollar's Fall May Lift Investor Demand

(Bloomberg) -- Gold rose in Asia on speculation that
the dollar's decline against the euro will boost the appeal of
the precious metal as an alternative investment. Silver also
gained.

The dollar traded near a record low against the euro, and
fell versus the British pound and the yen, making dollar-priced
gold cheaper to investors with other currencies. Gold has gained
2.8 percent this year while the euro has risen 3.2 percent
against the dollar.

Gold, Silver Rise in New York as $70 Oil Sparks Demand for Inflation Hedge

(Bloomberg) -- Gold rose from a three-month low in
New York after oil topped $70 a barrel, boosting the appeal of
the precious metal as a hedge against inflation. Silver also
gained.

Gold sometimes moves in the same direction as oil, which
rose to a nine-month high today on speculation U.S. inventories
will drop. Before this year, gold has had six annual gains as
oil prices more than doubled.

Gold Climbs in London as Higher Oil Costs May Revive Demand; Silver Gains

(Bloomberg) -- Gold gained for a second day in
London on speculation higher oil costs will revive demand for
the metal as a hedge against inflation. Silver also rose.

Crude oil is near a nine-month high and central banks in
Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K. have raised interest rates this
year to control escalating prices. Bullion climbed to a record
$850 an ounce in 1980 after a jump in the cost of oil.

Gold Rises in London on Speculation Dollar's Rally Will End; Silver Falls

(Bloomberg) -- Gold snapped two days of declines
in London on speculation the dollar will stop strengthening
against other currencies, reviving demand for the precious metal
as an alternative investment. Silver also increased.

Bullion has dropped in five of the past seven weeks as
higher global interest rates and a strengthening dollar eroded
the metal's investment appeal. The dollar dropped against the
yen today and the yield on the U.S. 10-year note fell.

Playboy to Open Macau Casino in 2008 to Woo Chinese, Christie Hefner Says

(Bloomberg) -- Playboy Enterprises Inc., publisher
of the most widely read men's magazine, will open a 40,000
square-foot entertainment complex, including gaming facilities,
in Macau next year as it seeks to expand in China.

Playboy Mansion Macao will include dining, entertainment and
retail shops, Playboy Chairman and Chief Executive Christie
Hefner said in an interview in Hong Kong today. It will be part
of the Macao Studio City complex, a $4 billion joint venture
project between Hong Kong-listed ESun Holdings Ltd. and partners
including Silver Point Capital LLC.

Gold Falls a Second Day as Dollar Gains on U.S. Growth; Silver Declines

(Bloomberg) -- Gold fell a second day in London as
expectations of U.S. economic growth buoy the dollar, reducing
demand for the precious metal as an alternative investment.
Silver also declined.

Gold dropped the most since June 8 yesterday on speculation
higher U.S. bond yields will boost the dollar. The dollar gained
for a second day today before U.S. reports on manufacturing and
the future direction of the economy that are expected to signal
growth, Bloomberg surveys of economists show.

Gold Rises on Decline in Dollar After Builders' Survey; Silver Also Gains

(Bloomberg) -- Gold in Asia rose for a fifth day as
a decline in the dollar boosted the appeal of the precious metal
as a hedge against the U.S. currency. Silver also gained.

Gold often moves in the opposite direction to the dollar,
which fell for a second day against the euro after a report
yesterday showed U.S. homebuilders' confidence fell, according
to traders including Osao Iizuka at Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co.

Gold, Silver Rise in Asia as Dollar's Decline Against Euro Boosts Demand

(Bloomberg) -- Gold in Asia rose for a fourth day
as a decline in the dollar boosted the appeal of the precious
metal as a hedge against the U.S. currency. Silver advanced.

The price of gold generally moves in the opposite direction
of the dollar which fell against the euro today ahead of U.S.
government reports this week that may show a slump in the
housing market.

Gold Falls in London as Demand May Slow on Stronger Dollar; Silver Drops

(Bloomberg) -- Gold fell in London on speculation
demand for the precious metal will slow after the dollar gained
against the euro. Silver also declined.

Bullion dropped and the dollar rebounded yesterday before
the U.S. Labor Department reported a 0.9 percent rise in
producer prices in May, higher than the 0.6 percent increase
forecast by analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News. Traders and
analysts are awaiting the U.S. report on the consumer price
index for May that's due later today.

Gold Gains as Investors Bet Recent Fall Overdone; Silver Is Little Changed

(Bloomberg) -- The price of gold rose in Asia as
investors bet last week's decline, the largest fall in more than
three months, was overdone. Silver was little changed.

The spot gold price fell 3.4 percent last week, the biggest
weekly decline since March 2, after the Reserve Bank of New
Zealand and the European Central Bank raised rates. Holding gold
becomes less attractive when interest rates rise because the
metal has no fixed returns.

Gold Trades Near Three-Week High in Asia Amid Speculation Euro May Gain

(Bloomberg) -- Gold traded near a three-week high in
Asia amid speculation the euro may gain, boosting demand for the
metal as an alternative investment to a weakening dollar. Silver
was little changed.

Gold generally moves in tandem with the euro which may gain
for a third day against the dollar amid speculation the European
Central Bank will raise interest rates at a policy meeting today.
The U.S. currency fell to a three-week low against the euro
yesterday. Gold has gained 1.7 percent this month.

Avaya, Dendreon, Digene, Flextronics, Solectron: U.S. Equity Movers

(Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies
whose shares are having unusual price changes in U.S. exchanges
today. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names.
Share prices are as of 9:30 a.m. New York time.

Avaya Inc. (AV US) rose 42 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $16.50
and traded as high as $16.60. The New York Times reported that
the computer networking company agreed to be bought by Silver
Lake Partners and TPG Inc. for $8 billion. Shareholders will get
about $17 a share in the deal, which may be announced as early as
today, the Times said, citing unidentified people familiar with
the transaction. That's 5.7 percent more than the stock's closing
price on June 1.

Gold and Silver Spot Prices Rebound in London, Erasing Earlier Declines

(Bloomberg) -- Gold and silver rebounded, erasing
earlier declines in London.

Gold for immediate delivery rose 25 cents to $672 an ounce
as of 12:54 p.m. local time, after falling as much as $3. Silver
gained 7.5 cents to $13.78 an ounce. The metal had dropped as
much as 7 cents.

Gold Declines on Speculation Last Week's Rise is Overdone; Silver Drops

(Bloomberg) -- Gold fell in Asia as some investors
bet last week's rise, its biggest weekly gain in more than three
months, was overdone. Silver also declined.

Gold last week closed above $670 an ounce for the first
time since May 15 after the European Central Bank said it won't
sell any more gold until after Sept. 26. This helped to boost
demand for the precious metal, which rose 2.4 percent in its
biggest weekly gain since the week ending Feb. 9.
