IHOP to buy Applebee's in $2.1 billion deal

(Reuters) - Greenhill & Co. LLC advised IHOP, and Banc of America Securities LLC advised Applebee's on the deal.

Apple, AT&T lower after iPhone's first weekend

(Reuters) - "We believe initial demand may have been disappointing, but it's still early," Bill Shope, analyst at JP Morgan, said in a note to clients. "We don't believe supply was much better than expected, so demand could be a bit light."



Shope estimates that Apple sold about 312,000 iPhones on Friday and Saturday. The combined cell phone, music player and Web browser went on sale Friday evening.

Apple iPhone launch draws gadget geeks, hired help

(Reuters) - "It's the newest toy. I'm 62 -- I don't have much time left to buy toys," said Livingstone, who stood in line with his friend Mark Stevenson, 50. They rented a room across the street and took turns to sleep.




The pair were among hundreds of people who lined up -- some for up to five days -- outside Apple stores and outlets of AT&T, the exclusive iPhone carrier for the next two years, for the launch at 6 p.m. local time in each U.S. time zone.

Shares of RIM jump 18 pct after strong earnings

(Reuters) - Analysts at UBS, Bear Stearns, Banc of America, Credit Suisse and Morgan Keegan all upgraded RIM shares.




Though some analysts have raised concerns that competition from Apple Inc.'s iPhone could hurt sales of RIM smartphones, RIM forecast higher-than-expected guidance for the current quarter.

Apple, Dow Jones, FreightCar America, Google, IXYS: U.S. Equity Preview

(Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies
whose shares may have unusual price changes in U.S. exchanges
today. This preview includes news that broke after exchanges
closed yesterday. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company
names. Shares prices are as of 7:30 a.m. New York time.

Apple Inc. (AAPL US) added $1.18 to $123.52 in trading
before U.S. exchanges opened. RBC Capital rated the shares
``outperform'' in new coverage, setting its price forecast at
$160. RBS said it saw further upside for Apple shares based on
the company's continued dominance of the MP3 player market with
its iPod and iTunes and gains from its Mac computers.

Asian Stocks Fall for a Third Day on U.S. Spending Concern; Sony Declines

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks fell for a third day on
concern a slump in U.S. housing will curb spending in the
region's biggest export market.

Sony Corp., which made 70 percent of its sales overseas last
year, and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., whose customers include
Apple Inc., led declines after sales of previously owned homes
fell to the lowest in almost four years.
