BHP Billiton Annual Production of Copper, Nickel, Iron Ore Rises to Record

(Bloomberg) -- BHP Billiton Ltd., the world's
biggest mining company, posted record annual production of
copper, iron ore and nickel, fueling what will be its largest
yearly profit.

Output of copper, the metal that contributes the most to
earnings, climbed 17 percent in the three months ended June 30
from a year ago, Melbourne-based BHP said in a statement. Nickel
production gained 15 percent and iron ore advanced 6 percent.

India's Industrial Output Growth Probably Slowed on Rupee, Interest Rates

(Bloomberg) -- India's industrial production growth
probably slowed for a second month in May as higher interest
rates damped consumer demand and currency gains weakened exports.

Output at factories, utilities and mines rose 12 percent
from a year earlier, following a 13.6 percent increase in April,
according to the median forecast of 15 economists in a Bloomberg
News survey. The Central Statistical Organisation will release
the production numbers at noon in New Delhi tomorrow.

India's Industrial Production Increases by 13.6 Percent, Beating Estimates

(Bloomberg) -- India's industrial production growth
beat expectations in April, suggesting the central bank may need
to raise borrowing costs further to contain inflation stoked by
consumer demand.

Output gained 13.6 percent from a year earlier after a
revised 14.5 percent increase in March, the Central Statistical
Organisation said in a statement in New Delhi today. Economists
expected a rise of 11.3 percent.
