UPDATE 1-S.Korea pension fund denies interest in buying KEB

(Reuters) - SEOUL, June 26 - South Korea's national pension
fund denied on Tuesday a report that it was seeking to form a
consortium to buy Korea Exchange Bank from U.S.
private equity fund Lone Star [LS.UL].




But the fund said that KEB could be an alternative investment
target to boost returns but that it has not yet considered a
purchase of the bank.

Lone Star in talks with several to sell KEB: paper

(Reuters) - Lone Star sold on Friday a 13.6 percent stake in KEB and two South Korean firms for a total of $2.3 billion.




The fund scrapped a $7.3 billion deal last year to sell KEB to Kookmin Bank amid a legal dispute with regulators over its $1.2 billion purchase of a majority of KEB in 2003.

TIMELINE: Lone Star sells stake in S.Korea's KEB

(Reuters) - Here is a chronology of events since Lone Star bought a 50.5 percent stake in KEB for $1.2 billion in August 2003:




- February 28, 2004: KEB absorbs KEB Credit Service Co. Ltd. Prosecutors will later charge Lone Star of manipulating the stock price of the card unit to lower the price.

Caribbean Tanker Rates Are Unchanged for Third Day Amid Weak Vessel Demand

(Bloomberg) -- Rates to ship crude oil from the
Caribbean basin were unchanged for a third day amid reduced
refinery operating rates.

No Aframax tankers, which can transport about 600,000
barrels of oil, were hired today, according to a daily report
from Houston-based shipbroker Lone Star, R.S. Platou.
