China's Stocks Climb, Erasing Earlier Losses; Citic Securities Advances

(Bloomberg) -- China's key stock index rose, erasing
earlier losses, as investors judged excessive a correction that
caused the benchmark to tumble as much as 12 percent from its
closing high of a week ago.

The CSI 300 Index gained 50.62, or 1.3 percent, to 3928.21
at the close. It earlier retreated as much as 3.2 percent. Citic
Securities Co., China's most profitable brokerage, and Founder
Technology Group Corp., the second-largest computer maker, rose.

China's Stocks Tumble, Extending a $224 Billion Slump; Huadian Power Drops

(Bloomberg) -- China's stocks tumbled after the
government's main securities newspaper signaled that policy
makers won't try to arrest a slump that wiped out $224 billion
of market value in the previous three trading days.

The CSI 300 Index dropped 5.5 percent to 3595.50 as of 1:50
p.m. local time. The measure, which tripled in the past 10
months, has plunged 14 percent from its May 29 peak after the
government tripled the tax on share trades to 0.3 percent. About
70 of the benchmark's members, including Huadian Power
International Corp., slid by the 10 percent daily limit today.

China's Stock Index Breaches 4,000 for First Time; World's Biggest Mover

(Bloomberg) -- China's CSI 300 Index rose above 4000
for the first time, driven by a surge in new investors who are
ignoring warnings of a bubble to enter a market that's doubled
this year.

China International Marine Containers Co. and Tsingtao
Brewery Co. were among 11 stocks to rise by the 10 percent daily
limit on the 298 member index. Jiangxi Copper Co. climbed after
the price of the metal gained by the daily cap in Shanghai.
